Chemical Analysis - Organics and Metals
|
MG Lab Service has new sophisticated instruments to analyze for metals including Lead (ICP-OES), wet chemistry, and FTIR analysis.
Below are the tools available for contract services:
|
FTIR - Fourier Transformed Infrared Spectroscopy with an Attenuated Total Reflectance (ATR) accessory.
|
| Perkin Elmer RX1 with Attenuated Total Reflectance This instrument can measure the infra-red absorption of materials via functional groups which make up organic molecules and polymers, in either through-sample mode or in a non-destructive attenuated total reflectance (ATR) technique. We can take advantage of the fact that each organic material (pure chemical or blend) has a characteristic infrared absorption finger-print. This includes extensive software libraries that can help to identify types of materials.

Atomic Absorption (AA) Spectroscopy
Perkin Elmer FIMS-100 Spectrometer
This is a compact atomic absorption spectrometer with an integrated FIAS-100 Flow Injection System for cold vapor mercury analysis. We can determine Mercury (Hg) levels down to a few parts per billion (ppb) in solids (extracted) and liquids.
This sensative AA instrument can measure Mercury exposure in the human body through hair analysis. Ask us about it.

ICP-OES (Inductively-Coupled Plasma with Optical Emission Spectroscopy)
Perkin Elmer Optima 2100DV Cyclonic ICP-OES
Automatic dual viewing ensures the lowest detection limits and the widest working ranges for metal analysis. This unit uses a CCD array detector in the axial and radial modes. This instrument can be used to look at 30 different metal elements. This instrument is used routinely to look for precious metals in the mining industry, and heavy metals in the electronics, water, and consumer products.
